The artist members of the Associate Artists Members Gallery create exceptional works of art and have achieved professional success. They also have multi-faceted careers and fascinating talents, interests and backgrounds.
This article “Fascinating Facts about Associate Artist Members Part I” is a quiz to help you become more acquainted with the artists. Can You Guess Who These Artists Are?
1. She is devoted to using her art to raise funds and awareness for ALS. She divides her time between Massachusetts and Maine. With her husband she established Locust Street Studios where they collaborate on creating custom painted paddles, shaped signs and hand-carved/painted whirligigs.
2. She received a BA from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO, and an MPS in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University where she developed programs for both children and seniors. An artist who also brings positive change to the world, each month she gives a portion of her sales to non-profit organizations.
3. She is the founder of the Faces Not Forgotten project, which uses portraits to memorialize young victims of gun violence. She is also a Visiting Artist for Liquitex and brings workshops to university campuses. Additionally, she is also a Board member of Jacoby Arts Center, IL. Her studio overlooks the Mississippi River.
4. This internationally exhibited artist lives in San Francisco, California. She is also the author of “Peoplescapes – My Story from Purging to Painting”. Her art incorporates oil, sculpture, fabric, paper, and found objects on canvas.
5. She credits Monet, O’Keeffe, Turner, and Frankenthaler among the artists who have most influenced her. She maintains studios in both East Aurora, NY and Bonita Springs, FL. Her art is in many collections including the Savannah College of Art & Design.
6. For more than 20 years before becoming a full-time artist she was a nurse caring for the underserved patient population and participated in medical mission trips worldwide. She lives in Marlinton, Tennessee.
7. This California artist uses an iPhone and multiple applications to produce her painterly photographs. Her former career was in advertising and she founded a printing business with her husband.
