Steevie was born in Brooklyn, New York and is currently based in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She studied art at The Art Students League of New York, Sarah Lawrence College and Syracuse University.
She decided that she wanted to become a street artist in Greenwich Village at the age of four, but her life changed direction in college where she decided to pursue a career in psychology, instead. Before devoting herself to painting full time, she worked in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist for 35 years.

Steevie’s desire to help others heal is a driving force behind her art. She explains she has always been fascinated by the use of art to help people to uncover unconscious fantasies in the service of emotional healing. Many of her abstract paintings have to do with emotional healing, spiritual renewal and a sense of connection to the natural world, of which all humans are a part.
She states that one of her main goals in painting abstracts is “to provide the viewer with a stage that enables them to project whatever it is that they need to see, in order to get in touch with their feelings, thoughts and dreams.”

“Steevie Jane Parks Unites the Healing Dynamics of Colors and Forms” is an Art Review I wrote about Steevie’s art that has been published on The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS website, an initiative of Manhattan Arts International. In it I stated, “Steevie arouses feelings of interconnectedness through rhythmic undulations and circular motifs. Her use of overlapping spatial planes envelop both the microcosm and macrocosm. Tactile brushwork further increases depth and dimension.”

Generosity, oil, 30″ x 30″. This painting was selected for “The Healing Power of Color” 2026 Exhibition and the video on the Manhattan Arts International YouTube channel.
Steevie’s background in Clinical Psychology contributes to her profound insight into the science of color and the healing potential it has on our minds and emotions. She enhances the lives of many of her viewers and collectors.
Steevie’s art is also featured in our presentation “Art Transforms Rooms and Art Transforms Lives”.
