On this day in January, 2020, we welcome a new decade and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Manhattan Arts International’s online art gallery. “I rarely hold onto paintings now. As they finish they get whisked off for sale to my gallery representation. But this one surprised me. Prior to this I painted spaces and places with minimal detail. Adding the birds, something definable, was out of character for me, but I went along with the feeling, creating something different and new. I like that! And this new beginning encouraged another new beginning as I decided to keep it! This painting now hangs in my studio for inspiration.”

“As nature photographers we closely monitor activities in our garden. Spring always brings the feeling of rebirth as old friends emerge from their winter slumber. Throughout the summer we follow the new beginnings of plants, flowers and their attendant insects. Milkweed flowers are favored by a wide variety of insects but, unfortunately, there are fewer varieties every year. This photo is a pattern of milkweed leaves and buds, about to open to the possibilities of what will come.”

Smell the joy of the fresh new sweet and spicy Spring flowers. Here the Honeysuckle swirlingly shows itself off as a herald of warmth to come!”

“Keeping up to date with the latest research and articles on our environment along with promoting environmental education is something that is important to me. “Butterfly Dream” depicts a young boy reading about nature. Learning brings awareness and a feeling of responsibility. This in turn can lead to positive behaviors. I hope that this artwork inspires thinking and new behaviors.”
