Their works of art exude balance and harmony achieved from an integration of subtle variations with dramatic contrasts and attention to detail. The patterns and designs of Art Nouveau and Art Deco and their treatment of nature can be found in their work. They explain, “We use these patterns to create borders to complement the main photo, thus making them an integral part of the print.” Having borders eliminates the need for further matting or framing.

Although they are equally skilled in other media, the couple have been photographers for most of their lives. Dick was a ceramic, watercolor and lapidary artist. Rosanne was a weaver, software developer and program manager. Always interested in art and design, patterns, form and texture, they have taken their extensive artistic and technical background and applied it masterfully to their nature-inspired works of art.
Dick and Rosanne explain, “Being immersed in our environment and appreciating colors and patterns in things both large and small, has led us to create sacred geometry mandala-like images of nature. The pattern repetitions function similarly to the meditative and reflective qualities of a mandala. New patterns and details emerge. New stories are told. You are drawn deeper into the image as your mind becomes engaged with patterns. New worlds are revealed in the reality we think we know and understand. A bond with nature is created that can be accessed anytime throughout the year.”
