This is wonderful! I am a fellow artist. I recently watched Lust for Life (cried a lot) and am now inspired to get involved with a local psychiatric hospital and art therapy. If things work out perhaps this exhibition could be like a goal for the patients!
Dr. Carole Weaver, author of SIDE EFFECTS: the AR T of Surviving Cancer (2016) Also senior consultant for National Medical Fellowships, 347 Fifth Avenue. says
Dear Ms Phillips–
Might we have a short conversation regarding our ART and HEALING project upcoming next year?
ROCKLAND CENTER FOR THE ARTS will begin a series of presentations, exhibits, workshops starting in February at our site in West Nyack, and continuing throughout the summer and fall. We would be grateful if we could somehow incorporate the works from your Healing Arts exhibit. Could we project the art on a large screen from your website? Could we make a contribution for that privilege? So far, the Foundation for Art and Healing has allowed us a terrific video, and Art Schulman has agreed to talk about his project in the ICU, waking patients in coma with classical music. Will you advise us further? I would be so grateful for a 15 minute visit with you. I am often in the City.
Renee Phillips says
Dear Dr. Carole Weaver, Thank you very much for your comment and interest in our upcoming “The Healing Power of ART” exhibition. I sent you an email to the address you provided with this comment. I look forward to learning more about your project and discussing collaboration with you. Best regards, Renee

Greetings from beautiful Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Hello Renee. At a recent art show in Plymouth, my wife and I saw the work, “Woman of Prophecy” by Bren Sibilsky. It was noted she was a past winner of the Manhattan Arts International . Curious, I checked out your site and was pleasantly surprised to see your current call for entries for the “Healing Power of ART” show. At present I am writing a docu-drama based on the life and times of Faridi McFree. She invented a form of art she called, “Healing Art.” This invention is mentioned in a book by Howard Sounes called “Down the Highway” (a bio of Bob Dylan). Faridi truly believed her art could heal both physically and mentally – and she collected many testimonials from folks she had worked with and helped overcome various difficulties. I own her vast collection of art, manuscripts, journals and correspondence. I was wondering if you had ever met Faridi? She lived in Manhattan toward the end of her life, when her powers, and her artwork (in my opinion) were in decline. I’m attaching the WordPress blog I created in her honor. My notes on the collection can be accessed on the top of the page. By the way, I’m flying out to L.A. in early November to pick up an award for a different screenplay, but I fully intend to push the “Ballad of Faridi McFree” and her Healing Art on anyone with patience and a set of ears. Sorry for the long note. It’s an occupational hazard. Phil
