Oranges and Stained Glass, oil on canvas, 14″ x 11″
Primarily, the focus of Marny’s artwork is contemporary realism with abstract elements which she observes in the natural subjects she chooses. This stylistic approach brings an enlightened versatility, depth, and overall enriched quality to her portfolio. These outstanding attributes have attracted numerous collectors and accolades.
She states, “Like the Old Masters, I see the gemlike qualities of everyday scenes and objects: iridescence, color changes where light hits a curve, shapes refracted through a water-filled glass bottle, shadows and reflections in landscapes.”
Pitcher and Grapes, oil on canvas, 11″ x 14″

Most recently Marny participated in an artist residency in San Cresci, Italy, followed by study in Florence. This resulted in inclusion in the contemporary artist presentation that coincided with the “Art of Giovanna Garzoni” Exhibition at the Uffizi Galleries and Pitti Palace in collaboration with AWA (Advancing Women Artists) and the Medici Archive Project where the final article showing her work is archived.
Marny graduated from Paier College of Art, New Haven CT, studied at University of Hartford Art School and holds a Master of Education degree from George Washington University. She also earned a Master of Science degree from Eastern Connecticut State University. The artist credits her instructors Edward Eichel, Koo Schadler, David Dunlop, Sandra Wakeen, Peter Fiore, and John MacDonald as having positively influenced her career and her art work.
Crazy No. 2, egg tempera and gold leaf on panel, 11″ x 14″
Marny acknowledges as one of her favorite artists Giovanna Garzoni, the Italian Baroque female painter in the 17th century. Garzoni’s primary subject matter was food — fruits, vegetables, plants, and insects. Following in Giovanna Garzoni’s tradition, Marny states, “I explore themes of foods and landscapes as they are in a state of flux with climate change, and still life to find the meditative beauty in the ordinary and the extraordinary in the often overlooked.”
Water’s Edge No. 1, oil on canvas, 18″ x 36″
It has been an honor to have included Marny’s art in our online exhibitions including “The Healing Power of Art”, presented on our website “The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS”. Her art was selected for her superior artistic skills and for bringing our attention to the magnificent beauty in our natural environment.
About her choice of mediums Marny explains, “Whether working in egg tempera, with the slow building of translucent layers, or in oil, with more freedom for experimentation and longer drying time, both approaches intensify my perception of the subject, which is reflected in the finished piece. Both suit my style and subject matter.”
