Kari excels in arranging colors with geometric and curvilinear forms. She brings an extensive mastery of color theory, innate sense of rhythm, and compositional elements to each painting. As an abstract painter she is an optical illusionist whose art defies spacial limitations. Her art is visual poetry bursting forth with relentless energetic expression.

In Kari’s work, colors combine to form language and shape from a lucid, kaleidoscopic inner world. Kari’s images are inspired by dreams that are intricately connected to unconscious worlds. Her fascination with pattern and energy, and the relationships between colors and people, nature, and space produce luminous paintings that reference an expansive universe and a mysterious microscopic realm. Her paintings can produce a dynamic multilayered 3D effect or a calm and more undulating experience.

Seven Healing Sticks of the Nullabor, oil on linen, 43” x 38”
Kari states, “Oil painting has been my passion for over 30 years. Colours and shapes are a universal unspoken language that can be interpreted on an energetic level. It is here in the studio absorbed in the paint and music; I merge with a parallel world. I find an evolution, a shift which directly affects the tapestry of relationships around me. My painting process is slow and meditative; the works take months and the painting over time becomes a meditation for the soul.”
A New Future, oil on canvas, 57” x 79”
Kari shares these words of inspiration: “As we move into a New Future, I am optimistic that this catastrophic time in history, post -pandemic, has brought new life and new awareness beyond our imagination. We can build communities based on our inner knowledge bursting with a love of nature and care for our fellow humans. We can make choices that create peace and pursue dreams that are not incessantly material. We can make choices to include and embrace, to be patient and kind.”
Indeed, Kari has developed her own visual vocabulary and inimitable style. With utmost proficiency she invites us to view the world as a magical, fluid and invigorating panorama. Through her paintings we experience our universe with a new expansive and compelling perspective.
