Manhattan Arts International thanks all women artists who submitted their art in the form of JPEG images for possible inclusion in the annual “HerStory” online art exhibition.
About “HerStory”: Even though for centuries women artists have inspired, enlightened and informed us with their enormous talent, vision and commitment, their contributions have gone under-recognized. Many have served as creative trailblazers in their chosen styles and mediums and they haven’t received the accolades they deserve. We have been presenting “HerStory” exhibitions at www.manhattanarts.com since 2000. They provide a venue for outstanding yet under-recognized women artists. We will continue to present annual “HerStory” exhibitions until there is a fair and equal balance of women artists represented by art museums, galleries, art book publishers, major private and public collections, auction houses, and the media.
A variety of subjects, styles and mediums of 2D and 3D artwork by women from around the world. Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, digital art, and mixed media. (No installation, video or craft.)
Every Artist who entered will be considered for inclusion in articles published during the next 12 months on this website and also The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS website, an initiative of Manhattan Arts International.
Curator: Renée Phillips, Founder and Director of Manhattan Arts International (read more about her below).
Widespread Publicity
We promote our exhibitions via social media and our subscription-based email marketing newsletters. Through our exhibitions artists make connections to galleries, art consultants, arts writers and art buyers.

I visit entrants websites to view their overall body of work, read about their career activities and learn about the intention of their work. I especially seek artwork that transforms us intellectually and/or emotionally in a unique way.”

Hi Renee,
This is Wonderful.
How to participate in ‘Her Story’. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Dipali
Renee Phillips says
Dear Dipali, I’m sorry, the entry deadline for artists submissions for the “HerStory” exhibition was December 14th. You can check back here later this year to learn about “HerStory” 2021 or subscribe to our email newsletter to be among the first to learn about our next call for artists. All the best to you in 2021.
Rebecca Niedner says
Apologies, I see you emailed via the website and the email was in the spam folder for Soul City Fine Art & Photography. Currently all the work on the website is mine, but I am wanting to feature other artists as well. Very sorry for the confusion.. I will attempt to enter again next year.
Renee Phillips says
Hi Rebecca, Thank you for the clarification. We sent you the confirmation to the email you listed on your entry form. I’m glad you found it. Good luck with your online gallery and your wonderful mission to feature other artists’ artwork in addition to your own. It’s a very rewarding experience! And, I hope you will enter “HerStory” next year with your own website.
Armida Espaillat says
I already submitted my work, but I didn’t receive any email from you. Did you receive my art?
Please, let me know it.
Thank you
Renee Phillips says
Yes, Armida, thank you. We received your entries and I replied from entries@manhattanarts.com. I also attached your free ebook, gift with early entry. Please check your trash or junk folders if you don’t see it. All the best, Renee
Vicki Maguire says
This is wonderful. Each woman has a story and it’s conveyed in the expression of her art.
Thank you for the opportunity.
Vicki
Karen khan says
I am wondering if an artist can submit paintings that have been previously submitted for another show on manhattan arts?
Renee Phillips says
Karen, that’s a great question. Although not an absolute “requirement”, I do prefer to see new artwork that has not already appeared in an exhibition on this website. That also applies to artwork that appears on a member’s page. You have plenty of time to create new works of art before the entry deadline! 🙂
Susan Ashley says
Her Story is a great way to encourage women artists. Their personal stories in visual art connects with others so well. I have been pleased to be in Her Story in 2015. I’m now planning new art to work for this part of my story. The message describes a Chapter in Story of a woman.
Renee Phillips says
Thank you Susan, I look forward to seeing your entries this year. We are inviting all subjects, all styles and all mediums!
Roopa Dudley says
I am in the same boat as you Susan. This is possibly my favorite topic that I look forward to submitting my work each year. I love looking at the artworks and the stories they tell about each selected artists. It is truly a cathartic moment for both the artists and the viewers.
