Calming My Mind with Funky Tree Memory, watercolor and acrylic on wood, 16″ x 12″
The artist, who lives in Brooklyn, NY, states, “Using an intuitive process I absorb the exhilarating primal beauty that constitutes tropical environments and channel those magical feelings into vibrant metallic watercolors. I am inspired and renewed by the beauty and serenity of the Caribbean and the intoxicating aquamarine color that changes into multi-blue hues with dazzling sparkle.”

Gail creates her paintings using watercolors with metallics on Arches paper and also birch panels. They reflect her extraordinary proficiency in color, design and composition. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Printmaking at (VCU) Virginia Commonwealth University in Virginia. She was then accepted into the year-long studio program at the Whitney Independent Study Program affiliated with the Whitney Museum of American Art, in New York City, NY.

Gail’s many exhibitions include those presented at: Brixton Gallery, England; Elmhurst Art Museum, Illinois; Fullerton Art Museum, California; Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, New York; Katonah Museum, New York; National Institute for Health, Maryland; National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC; and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Virginia; among others.
She has also exhibited at Columbia, Harvard and Yale and participated in Global Focus, Women in Art and Culture in Beijing, China.

The International Cow Parade organization selected the artist’s design (cow sculpture) for its exhibition in Madison, Wisconsin.
Gail had the opportunity to paint a cow for “Cow Parade 2021” in NYC, NY in conjunction with God’s Love We Deliver. Her cow “Tropical Moood” was on view at the New York Hall of Science, in Flushing, NY through September 30, 2021.

The artist is also a recipient of a Yaddo Fellowship, a Virginia Center for Creative Arts Fellowship, and a Kalani Honua Fellowship.
Gail was the Director of Envirosite during 1995-1997, an Environmental Artists organization and is a founding member of C.A.I.R.N., a New York City group of artists working with environmental issues.
She states, “I am putting forth a window into this all-encompassing multi-sensual experience using vivid colors and geometric patterns that depict the wildness of this ecosystem.”
