Keith Morant, Zing, mixed media on canvas, 24″ x 24″.
Keith Morant has been honored by the Chinese by being asked to exhibit at the Fo Guang Yuan Buddhist Temple in Christchurch, New Zealand. The exhibition is titled ‘”inging True” and is based on the archetypal symbol of the circle. Morant’s wife Patricia is also exhibiting some of her unique pottery. The show, with videos of Morant at work, is the longest (six months) and largest exhibition (over 300 works) currently on view in New Zealand. Morant says that he returned from Venice to find that his reputation had gone before him. “Suddenly these wonderful people were offering me this beautiful two story building to fill with my work. As a long-time student of Zen Buddhism, I was over the moon!” The exhibition closes on December 24th.
Sandra Duran Wilson, Soundscape III
“Altitude”, a solo show by international artist, Sandra Duran Wilson, opens November 10th in Braidwood Australia, NSW. This is her second exhibition in Australia and her contemporary, abstract landscapes convey the experiences of Altitude. Her work is inspired by both her scientific training and her eye for a beautiful composition of colour and space. Sandra explores the possibilities of abstraction to evoke a landscape which looks familiar but feels timeless. Her work is saturated with the light of the high deserts of New Mexico-colours that look surreal but are indeed true to their origins.
