Leanne chooses to elevate the regal beauty of the land, sea and sky in her art. She states, “I will not be a name that rolls off the tongues of historians. I am a cog in the wheel of creative individuals worldwide, known to those in my orbit. Like a mirror, it is my calling to reflect the world around me through the universal language of visual art. I paint in oils. Other creatives may dance with injustice, parry with war or poverty but I choose a positive viewpoint.”
She continues, “The reason is twofold. I honor my uncle’s memory. He was my first art instructor as a very young child. He taught me oil painting at a time before I could understand why I dipped the brush into linseed oil and why a tree was never painted with a straight trunk. In maturity, landscape painting feels like a sacred trust. With our quickly changing climate, perhaps I am painting for posterity in order to preserve what may not be around in the future.”

The artist shares a birthday with Mozart. And like music, art transcends all language barriers. Leanne states, “My wish is that my work will uplift those who view it. On a deeper level, I hope it will raise awareness for the fragile beauty that surrounds us and give pause for reflection on our interactions with the natural world.”
About her process she writes, “Color can swing and sway the mind like a distant tune whispered on the wind. Every artist has a favorite color palette. Mine includes richly saturated hues held up by softly muted tones and neutrals, inviting the eye to stay a while. Texture created with cold wax medium builds a fascinating uneven surface that beckons the viewer to look closer. By applying select color combinations to the textural elements, I achieve a scintillating opalescent look to my art. It’s the way I see the world. And there comes a point when a painting seems to sing to me. At that moment, I know the work of art possesses a beneficial healing force.”
