Multi-Media Portraits of Women
Susanne Buckler is an award-winning photographer, video artist, “Process Artist” and mixed media artist who lives and works in New York, NY. She won the First Place Special Recognition Cash Award in Manhattan Arts International “HERStory 2016” curated exhibition.
“Talk to Me”, is a multimedia installation of manipulated portraits of women, printed on translucent silk, suspended from the ceiling and walls. Buckler’s ongoing investigation of women’s bodies has been
spurred on by her own disfigurement and is synonymous with the aging process. She began by video interviewing women of all ages and ethnicities. She asked them questions such as, “What is your favorite body part?, seeking to reveal their inner persona. Collaborating with each woman on the selection of their final images and words, culls out what seems to be their most intimate and personal story.
