There are all types of scams now surfacing in emails that are aimed to take advantage of artists. Don't become a victim. If anything looks suspicious it probably don't take any risks.
As they come to our attention Manhattan Arts International will post them. If you hear about any please let us know.
Eleanor Gilpatrick, one of our online gallery members, sent us an email about a scam. She learned about it from Benny Shaboy, Publisher of Art Opportunities Monthly at www.ArtOpportunitiesMonthly.com
We want to thank Eleanor for sending it to us. (View Eleanor Gilpatrick's work.)
Cape Town Scam
Here is the scam that has been sent to many artists. I suggest you forward this page to other artists you know. If you receive a suspicious email of any kind please forward it to us.
Hello,
While questing for better artworks for our new house, I came across your work and I must say you are doing a great job over there. I will like to proceed with the purchase of these lovely and fascinating works for our new apartment in Cape Town.
(The writer refers to specific titles of the artist's works here.)
Please let me know if the artworks are still in your stock for sale and your asking price for each works.
On the shipment, I have already forwarded your contact information to the shipping agency that will be handling the shipment of our other house items to get in touch with you. Please let me know if they have contacted you.
On payment, I would like to pay you with a Certified U.S. Cashier Check. Hope to hear from you soon on how to proceed on the purchase.
Regards,

"Tony Bill" Scam
Received from member Toni Lucadello.
Dear Renée
Recently I have received a fraudulant email from a man named "Tony Bill " and wanted to alert you to this scam. It involved one of my works on your site wanting to pay with a cashier's check, and then me sending the extra money left after I deducted my payment to an agent for pick up of the art. Let me know if anyone else has been subjected
to this.
