Focus/Mission: Pomegranate Gallery was established by the modernist sculptor, Oded Halahmy, who felt compelled to open a gallery that would introduce Americans to the serious artistic initiatives from the Middle East. He observes that Americans are not only becoming increasingly international in their art collecting, but hopes that his gallery focusing on works from his native Iraq will the serve as a cultural ambassador to awaken American consciousness of Baghdad’s leading role in fine arts from the Arab world. Focus/Mission: To offer photographers a place to exhibit their own work and exchange ideas with others. The gallery provides a sounding board for new ideas, experimental work, and unorthodox techniques. It was formed as an alternative to commercial galleries that favor one style or technique.

Selection process: Prospective members’ portfolios are reviewed the first Saturday of each month. Photographers should submit portfolios of 15 final, mounted prints. Drop them off by 10:30 the first Saturday of each month and pick them up around 2:00. A $50 non-refundable fee is required. Fees: There is an annual membership fee and a one-time facility fee.
Additional information: Our annual national competitions are juried by leading members of the photographic community, such as Susan Kismaric, MoMA. Guest lecturers and a variety of workshops are also offered, and are open to the public. Opening receptions are held on the first Tues. of every month, 6-8 p.m.
