About Renée Phillips

Author / Writer: She is the author of several books including Presentation Power Tools for Fine Artists, Success Now! For Artists and The Complete Guide to New York Art Galleries. She writes an ejournal titled Soar!. She is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and her articles have appeared in many publications nationwide in print and online.

Motivational Speaker: She delivers keynote speeches in many art and educational institutions such as International Artexpo NY, New York University, Hechscher Museum, Silvermine Guild, Chicago Artists Coalition, and Marymount Manhattan College, among others. See detailed list.

The Artrepreneur Coach: As a pioneer in her field she is known as "The Artrepreneur Coach", serving as a career advisor and coach for more than 27 years. She helps her clients from around the world crystalize their creative, financial and career goals and provides, resources and empowering plans of action. Learn about her consultations.

Editor-in-Chief, Manhattan Arts magazine / Art Critic: Renée founded and operated Manhattan Arts International magazine from 1983 to 2000. Her mission was to promote emerging artists in all disciplines who were being ignored by the mainstream press. She also interviewed leaders in the world of art, politics and entertainment. She is currently Editor-in-Chief of Manhattan Arts Ezine.



Artists Advocate / Events: Renée organized more than 50 multi-media events including the "Manhattan Arts Debate" (photo), the only political debate in NYC's history to concentrate solely on the arts. It was televised on ABC news and transmitted on WQXR radio owned by The New York Times.


She was also an officer / member of the Board of Directors of New York Artist Equity Association. For her contributions to the Arts she has been awarded citations from two NYC mayors. She was featured in New York Newsday as a "Community Leader." Articles about her have appeared in The New York Times, Crain's New York Business, and Our Town.


Curator: She organized dozens of group exhibitions in galleries and alternative exhibition spaces, from corporate spaces to Studio 54, and arranged one-person shows for artists in galleries throughout New York City. Realizing the lack of support and availability of New York exhibition venues for the many artists she provides guidance for she established a juried Online Gallery at www.ManhattanArts.com in 2000.



During her career she has had the pleasure of interviewing and working with many leaders from art, entertainment and politics including Leo Castelli, Jay Leno, Ivanna Trump, Mark Kostabi, and many others.
