Profile
Lisa Bartell is a representational expressionist painter, whose work is based on the imagery of nature. Her psychological understanding of healing translates to a unique visual expression.
Bartell’s oil paintings are inspired by the unlimited creative details of the natural world. Subjectively interpreting these details through drawing and painting, allows the artist’s discovery of an internal place of healing and a connection with life’s creativity on a grander scale.
The artist was born in Albany, New York, and moved extensively throughout the United States as well as overseas. She began her art career as an illustrator and designer. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University, Ohio, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Memphis, where she studied under John Robinette, medal winner of The Society of Illustrators in New York City. Bartell studied drawing and painting at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA.
Since 2002, Bartell has strictly focused on painting. She has exhibited in North Carolina, Tennessee, New York State, and Massachusetts. Her work is in many private collections.
Her painting, “Filled With Colors”, was featured in an edition of North Carolina’s Raleigh News & Observer “What’s Up: Critic’s Picks On Best Art.” She is the recipient of two Manhattan Arts International juried competition awards:the Artist Showcase Award for “The Healing Power of Art” and the Award of Excellence for “Herstory”. Both were curated by Renée Phillips, Director of Manhattan Arts International and member of the International Association of Art Critics.
Lisa Bartell currently lives and works in North Carolina. |
