The layering of imagery in Derr's
paintings reveal multiple meanings, often through the union of
opposites, with a rich sense of humanity and a healthy dose of
irony. Because of this layering the images in his paintings have
depth and multiple meanings which bring the viewer back again
and again, each time to find and explore unexpected paths.
